Keeping your truck's engine healthy is one of the most essential aspects of fleet maintenance.  If your truck engine maintenance is neglected, you run the risk of unnecessary engine repairs.

BENEFITS OF HEAVY DUTY TRUCK DIAGNOSTIC

A few of the benefits of engine diagnostics are:

  • Retrieve active/inactive/historical fault codes
  • Keep track of data and information about your engine
  • Save you money, time and effort in the long run

Here at Specialized Truck Repair & Fleet Maintenance, we believe in the importance of a healthy engine. We recommend our clients have their trucks’ engines scanned on each service interval.

If you notice any of these problems, it is likely time to bring your vehicle in to get an overhaul immediately:

  • Your engine has spun a rod bearing. This is one of the worst failures that can occur inside your diesel engine.
  • Your engine has very low or no oil pressure. A fuel or coolant leak can contaminate the engine oil, which leads to a high oil level in the crankcase.
  • Your engine has dropped a valve. This is an all too common and critical fault of a diesel engine.

If you notice these symptoms, it is a good idea to talk to a mechanic about the possibility of getting an overhaul:

  • Your engine has high blow by. Blow by is the compressed fuel and air mixture in the combustion chamber leaking past the piston and entering the crankcase.
  • Your engine is consuming a lot of engine oil or coolant. If your diesel is suddenly using up more oil or coolant, it could be from a variety of problems.
  • You have put a lot of miles on your diesel and are getting lower fuel efficiency. Vehicles with a diesel engine should come with a recommendation as too when you should get an engine overhaul based on mileage. Consult your owner’s manual or ask an expert about what they would recommend given the year, make, and model of your vehicle.

These are just some of the issues that can arise and indicate that it is time to have your diesel engine overhauled. If you notice any of the above problems or think that you might need an overhaul, you should bring your vehicle to a trusted mechanic with ASE certified technicians.

What is an engine overhaul?

An engine overhaul is a major diesel engine repair that involves the removal, disassembly, inspection and repair of an engine. During the overhaul, small parts and components, like bolts, might be replaced with new factory parts. During disassembly, the engine is cleaned thoroughly to remove built-up grime and debris. Since your entire engine is being taken apart, it’s much easier for the mechanic to identify problems and replace malfunctioning parts. Once everything has been cleaned and the necessary replacements have been made, the engine will be put back together and set back into the vehicle.

Benefits of an engine overhaul

An engine overhaul is an excellent option for engines that aren’t old or excessively worn but are still experiencing issues. An engine overhaul can effectively fix any issues with your engine and save you a significant amount of money. Since all of your parts and components are thoroughly cleaned and inspected during an engine overhaul, your mechanic will be able to spot minor issues that you might not have even noticed yet.

How do diagnostics improve truck repair efficiency?

Diagnostics improve efficiency by providing precise fault detection, reducing downtime, and enabling cost-effective repairs. Advanced tools interpret trouble codes and system data, allowing technicians to address issues quickly and accurately. This minimizes trial-and-error repairs and enhances vehicle reliability.

Would not recommend. Mark the mechanic is rude and very unprofessional . They do not like people asking questions on prices. I asked him to breakdown the price so i could pass along the information and was hung up on and told to not call back. Customers have the right to know what they are paying for. They plugged into my truck to diagnose it and came up with it needed a clutch fan solenoid. Part was changed out and was a waste of $300. I can’t be wasting time and money on the guessing games.I was NEVER informed about a possible fan clutch. He only told me the solenoid and I still have the paperwork that it was printed on. I would’ve changed the both of them cause I don’t have time to play around. They plugged into my truck to diagnose it and came up with it needed a clutch fan solenoid. Called the shop spoke to John. Explained to him how my driver was at Love's Truck stop near by. He couldn't move because the diesel pump was cracked Love's kept trying to send me to Freightliner. Glad i came across Specialized truck repair in Google. John got my truck towed to his shop for a reasonable prices. They got the part for me from freightliner and got it in the truck in half a day. Price was very reasonable and since they own the tow truck I got a good price on that. I highly recommend this shop If you are a OTR driver and are looking for a shop that won't take advantage of you.

Had brakes repaired on my 2012 Expedition. Completely satisfied. Owner is honest and makes a great effort to see that each repair is to done correctly and that the customer is satisfied. Brant Jones has been my mechanic for 18 years. An honest and helpful mechanic is a good find. Any one star reviews are most likely written by someone who cannot be pleased or by a competing auto repair shop.

We had our truck towed from the dealership.  We saved moneycoming here, even including the tow bill.  We also didn't have to wait 2 weeks like the dealership said it would take.

Went in for an oil change, found out that the oil pan was cracked and also there was damage to other parts of the car and so it turned out to be a very expensive repair. Took some extra time but was able to get all the needed parts in and car is now working great. Friendly service and quality job.

These people took such great care of me. This is my 1st box truck but they had no problem going over the truck with a fine tooth comb or explaining different aspects and functions of the truck. The pricing was affordable as well. They have definitely won my business!!!Thanks guys!!!
